New laboratory for molecular diagnostics
A laboratory for molecular diagnostics was open at the “Human“ Polyclinic and it is equipped with one of the state-of-the-art Real Time devices – PCR, as well as with the necessary accompanying equipment and reagents of highest quality.
What is a PCR?
PCR is the most developed molecular technique which has a broad scope of clinical application in detecting and evaluating the state of an infection, determining the susceptibility of bacteria to antibiotics, detecting mutation which can be the cause of many diseases. This method can demonstrate the genes of a virus or some microorganisms if they are present in our bodies.
A detection of sexually transmitted diseases such as: chlamydia, mycoplasma, ureaplasma, HIV virus, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HPV and the detection of gene mutation is done in a PCR laboratory.
What are the advantages of the PCR method in camparison to others?
The PCR has many advantages that distinguishes them from other methods The processes are automated which makes the identification of bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms quicker and more reliable. In such a way, the possibility of oversight caused by the human factor is reduced.
